Hi Vince and welcome aboard! First of all let me tell you I’m so impressed about the sound of this album. How is working with your solo band a different experience than working with Crüe?
Mainly because everything’s equal in Mötley Crüe. In my solo band I kind of have the last word on everything because it’s my band, but of course my guys have a huge say in everything else, too. But it’s fun. It’s looser. Mötley Crüe is not strict, but it is very structured, I guess that’s what I’m saying. With the production and all that stuff that goes on with Mötley Crüe, in my band we’re loose, man. We go out and have a good time. More

KISS today will play their #18 show in Budapest out of the Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour 36 dates. The polish band Juice will open for KISS in Bratislava, while Wolfmother has been replaced by Taking Down again so far in Germany. It's not known if Wolfmother will play as opening act for KISS in the coming dates or be repleced by Taking Down.

Denis O'Regan presented a lecture about photographing rock band KISS to a packed theatre at the Apple Store in London on May 11st. Denis captivated the crowd with anecdotes about shooting one of the worlds biggest bands ahead of their London concert apperances. Denis has photographed some of the biggest names in the world of music, including David Bowie, Queen, KISS, Kylie Minogue and Duran Duran along with recording big events such as Live Aid in 1985. Here he shares his experiences of photographing legends...
What's the best thing about photographing musicians like KISS?
The show, the effects, the overall excitement. I genuinely enjoy shooting them. KISS are fun to be around and they know what they're doing. They're hugely professional and they put on a great show. They also know how to throw a shape for the camera!

Rocknrollradio.it: Hi Eric! Another tour and fortunately another time in Italy. We’re glad to see you again, last year you came back to Italy and Europe after 9 years. What’s your impression of the Italian fans?
ERIC: Italian fans are very very passionate. Look, one thing that’s great is Kiss fans are very great everywhere in the world because they all speak the same language, which is Kiss and that’s the beauty and the unique thing about Kiss. But sometimes you go to some countries and the difference, I know this must supposed to be like in every country but like in South America, Italy, Spain, sometimes the people are less shy, more open to be expressing their emotions to the band. So that’s the one thing that is more special about places like Italy, the fans are very passionate and they’re not afraid of let you know and this is great! more (scroll down the page)

SONIC BOOM OVER EUROPE GOES SIMFY LIVE!!!

Milan, May 18, KISS show n°12 of the Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour. I was heading to the venue with the bitter-sweet feeling this would be the last time I could see them live…I was thinking the same in 1996, though…
KISS is immortal as their music and nowadays it’s so cool KISS fans may be collect high quality recordings of each and every show thanks to the massive job carried over by KISS technical partner simfy live (formerly known as Concert Online). The daily planning said I would have met up with the recording team at the Mediolanum Forum to see how all the things are being done and set up in order to let the people have their show on hand at the same time KISS are backstage taking off their greasepaint!

Unfortunately due to some technical insider information taped during the interview, the management decided on not having the video published in any way, but I can tell you the guys are doing a tremendous job; it’s even unimaginable how many things should be set up for every show and immediately after packed as fast as possible in order to be shipped to the next venue. Basically the KISS shows are taped on 46 tracks boot including some crowd mikes and all snares toms and pedals of Eric’s drum kit. The recording is made on a pair of PC to be able to switch for one to another in case of default and to be sure to get the recordings done. Cutting tracks and tagging them is done almost live, and even the “special effects” of the guitars moving from channel left to right (during Tommy solo e.g.) are done live thanks to a Video installed in the control room where the guys may follow KISS playing and choose the right timing to fade in and fade out the guitars lines. All concerts are ready to be sold up to the 11nd song that normally is 100,000 years at the end of the show while the second part become downloadable early in the afternoon of the following day, almost incredible to see…amazing to listen, believe me!!

In viaggio verso il Forum con la sensazione dolce-amara che questa sarebbe stata l'ultima volta che avrei potuto vederli dal vivo...  a dire il vero avevo la stessa sensazione nel 1996...
I sono KISS immortali come la loro musica e al giorno d'oggi è talmente eccezionale per i fan dei KISS avere la possibilità di avere la registrazione di ogni concerto in altissima qualità grazie al massiccio lavoro del partner tecnico dei KISS simfy live (precedentemente conosciuti come Concert Online). La pianificazione giornaliera mi dice che avrei incontrato con la squadra di registrazione presso il Mediolanum Forum per vedere come avviene il set up delle macchine e la messa punto delle registrazioni per permettere al popolo dei concerti di avere il loro show a portata di mano nello stesso momento in cui i KISS sono nei camerini a struccarsi!
Purtroppo a causa di alcune informazioni tecniche riservate registrate durante l'intervista, il management ha deciso di non concedere l’autorizzazione alla pubblicazione del video, ma vi posso garantire che grazie a quello che ho visto e mi è stato spiegato che quei ragazzi stanno facendo un lavoro incredibile, è inimmaginabile quante cose devono essere regolate e messe a punto per ogni show e subito dopo smontate ed imballate il più velocemente possibile per essere spedite verso il successiva tappa del tour.
Fondamentalmente gli shows dei KISS sono registrati su 46 tracce comprese quelle relative ai microfoni diretti sul pubblico e quelli installati su ogni elemento del kit della batteria di Eric. La registrazione viene effettuata su una coppia di PC per essere in grado di passare da uno all'altro in caso di default e essere sicuri di avere sempre la registrazione del concerto. La separazione delle tracce e il tagging  è fatto quasi in diretta, e anche gli "effetti speciali” delle chitarre in movimento tra i due canali destro e sinistro  (per esempio durante il solo di Tommy) sono fatti dal vivo grazie a un video installato nella sala di controllo dove il team può seguire il concerto e scegliere i tempi giusti per eseguire i fade in e i fade out dei canali delle chitarre. Tutti i concerti sono pronti per essere venduti fino alla 11ma canzone, che normalmente è 100.000 years, alla fine dello spettacolo mentre la rimanente parte alesatura è resa scaricabile dal sito nel primo pomeriggio del giorno seguente. Quasi incredibile vedere ... sorprendente da ascoltare, credetemi!

The great Enrico Ruggeri was there too, here his review: "Forum sold out for KISS. I was there with Luigi [Schiavone], Fabrizio [Palermo] and Paul Zanetti. I met Caparezza (he was already one of my favorites artist before, what to say now??!!, Giampiero Ingrassia. And I met Alexander Massara,President of Universal Records Italy, dressed like a true rocker, enthusiastic and competent (this is the kind of music biz guy I like!). The concert was excellent, they were in great shape, it has been unfortunate the firemarshaels prohibited fires and bombs. Such things happen in Italy only. But the show has been so cool, full of rock'n'roll adrenaline, the public has been part of the show. A fairy tale circus that strikes again. Rock music played by the ageless sixty, marvelously haughty and not willing to leave the throne to new generations at all. Excellent and gratifying.

MILANO KISSED AGAIN
No matter who and no matter what, KISS is an unstoppable war machine, and yesterday night show at the Mediolanum forum is there to testify.
The Italian KISS army showed their love to the band with an amazing sold out and a hotter then hell salute to Gene, Paul, Tommy and Eric as soon as they appeared on the top of the lift with the roaring drum beat of Modern day Delilah. An adoring crowd that was standing out of the venue since noon to see their heroes after a two years wait. And believe me it worth the wait. Despite the prohibition to use flames during the show, to big annoyance of Gene first, who had to drop his fire breathing stunt, KISS played the well known and very effective 2010 set list with the energy and a raw power of their beginning. As someone else said this is the happy Paul's tour, it's so cool to see how he is enjoining being on stage cheering the crowd and smiling at his band mates. Chatted a bit both with Tommy and Eric before the show and they seemed really happy to be in Italy again in front of one of the hottest crowd in the world, and needless to say theyr performances have been great. Highlights of the nigh for me God gave rock&roll to you, Say Yeah, Tommy&Eric solos and the amazing crowd participation during Detroit Rock City and I was Made for Lovin' You. In few words: KISS is still the best show on earth, period.

NEWS FROM THE TOUR
KISS has played 6 concerts out of the 35 dates of the Sonic Over Europe Tour so far.
More then 70.000 people (not confirmed) attended the shows, enthusiastic comments from the press. The set list remains unchanged since night one with the new opener Modern Day Delilah, Say Yeah and Animal from Sonic Boom, the addition of Crazy, Crazy Nights and God Gave Rock and Roll to You II and the come back of Firehouse and I Was Made for Lovin’ you. Production wise KISS has now a new and very effective way to hit the stage and a very cool Tommy&Eric jam at the end of Shock me (played by Tommy for the very first time in Europe) in addition to the stage set up showed during the Alive35 US Tour, also Eric’s drum kit is lifted almost at the top of the rafters during the encores. KISS will play at the Manchester Arena tonight before the two gigs at the famous London Wembley  Arena on the 12 and 13. Shannon Tweed, long time Gene’s girlfriend, will be in attendance at the London gigs along with the Geneva, Milan and Prague shows.
For diehard fans, both Paul and Gene are now selling stage used guitar and bass during this tour.
