KISS CANT' WAIT TO PLAY IN EUROPE AGAIN (via kissfaq.com)

Recently KISSHell/Metal Hell Int'l cought up with Tommy Thayer before laving for Europe, here the interview
1. What's the latest news on the Hottest Band In The World?
TOMMY THAYER: We're leaving for Europe next week. We've been rehearsing for several weeks now and we're very, very excited about the new 2010 Sonic Boom tour.
2. On SONIC BOOM? How did you generally approach writing your solos?
TT: Some solos I worked out on my own, on others Paul helped me with direction. I usually had an idea where I was going to go with each solo before we recorded them.
3. How would you compare writing with Gene to writing with Paul?
TT: There are no rules to writing songs, particularly where you start from. Paul and Gene have different styles and approach to writing songs. Gene usually has a backlog of song ideas that he pulls from. Paul usually has newer ideas. I think they are both best when they're spontaneous.
4. How did it feel to do the lead vocal on "When Lightning Strikes?" & was this written specifically with your voice in mind?
TT: Yes it was. I wrote the song with some help from Paul. We wanted a straight ahead rocker and I think it came out great.
5. With KISS guitar solos generally being pentatonic based, how do you feel other modes fit/or don't fit within the context of KISS' music?
TT: The KISS style and sound is timeless and was established early on. It's a blues-based hard rock style. It is what it is.
6. In the the current show, on the jam in '100,000 Years', how did it develop into you & Paul trading licks?
TT: I think it was one of those things we didn't plan the first couple times, and then eventually it became a part of the show.
7. "Lick It Up" has some interesting elements live, how did the current arrangement come together, with the segment from 'We Don't Get Fooled Again'?
TT: I think originally I was doing that finger-plucking thing and Paul was singing "I Want You.. I Need You" Later on that evolved into the Who part. I really like that.
8. How did the idea for new costumes come about?
TT: We were flying on our jet to Milwaukee for a one-off gig last year and we were talking about that we needed to get started on new KISS outfits. Paul picked up a pad of paper first and started sketching some ideas. We all tweeked things a bit.
9. Can you tell us a bit about your Hughes & Kettner signature amp?
TT: The HK Tommy Thayer Signature amp has a warm ballsy, in-your-face tone that really works well. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants a serious guitar amp. They look good too!
10. Any set list surprises planned for the European leg of the Sonic Boom tour?
TT: There will be some new songs and other great stuff. Always taking it to another level! We can't wait!

More then one week is passed by but still the echoes from the KISS party are on.

Great show. The best rock event for Verona and its province. Perfect organiztion. Thanks Lucille. The venue was packed to the limit and the bands sounded almost perfect. Bellissima serata. Sicuramente il migliore evento rock di Verona e provincia di quest'anno. Ottima organizzazione. Grazie Lucille.
Locale strapieno imballato e band che si sono date da fare a dovere per la riuscita del tutto. Tanta gente anche da fuori Verona, ottimo segnale. E un plauso al nuovo corso del Lucille il vero riferimento veronese per il Rock. Non ci sono "ex Lucille" che tengano, l'originale ha impresso un marchio di fabbrica indelebile, questione di attittudine. Complimenti! KISS TO ANNOUNCE US DATES AND READY TO HIT THE OLD ROADS OF EUROPE

DeuceNews got words that the KISS summer tour is ready to be announced with its 30 dates. Gene Simmons twitted earlier that KISS has done a photo shoot at undisclosed site to promote upcoming Summer tour and on  Monday they will be off to Europe.

KISS and Gene Simmons fans will be pleased to know that Paul Hayeland and his bus will be travelling all over Europe to promote and sell the Axe Bass and the brand new Punisher.

You might meet up with the coolest Bass bus at each KISS tour venue.

Alex Ruffini was born in Venice in 1968; since he was a child, he has shown a remarkable interest in drawing and music. In 1980, Kiss performs in Italy for the first time, and little Alex is impressed by the mix of music, stage design and make-up, nurturing an ultimate passion for rock and for the artists’ different personalities on stage. All over these years he shot at numebers of rock artists such as including Eric Sardinas, Dokken, Bonfire, Antiproduct, House of Shakira, L.A. Guns, Bruce Kulick, Eric Singer and many others.

ONE NITE KISS: REPORT

One of the longest day in my KISStory begins early on Saturday morning while packing all memorabilia and stuff to be showed at Lucille, and this was the first time my precious Punisher bass got out of my house (!). Then travelling to the venue with my car loaded of kissonline merch and all other things KISS and then back in Verona to pick up Keith and Scott and once again back to the venue. The hotel doors open and Keith shows up…only now I start realizing that thing is going to happen!!More

Uno dei giorni più lunghi della mia Kisstory iniziata nella mattina di Sabato, caricando tutti i miai KISS cimeli e altra materiale da esporre al Lucille, e questa era la prima volta il mio prezioso basso Punisher usciva da casa mia(!). Poi in viaggio verso il locale con la macchina caricata di tutto il merchandising di  kissonline ed il resto e poi di nuovo a Verona per andare a prendere Keith Scott e di nuovo al locale. Le porte dell’hotel si aprono e Keith si presenta ... solo ora comincio a capire che tutto quanto sta per accadere veramente! continua...

GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS recently reached the incredible number of 100 Episodes. It's the longest running reality show, ever. Gene Simmons:"I DO have a few day jobs. But we really like doing the show and hope you do, too."
Sunday, April 18, 9:30/8:30 C will air a real cool episode, after 15 years of endless pranks, KISS manager Doc McGhee enlists Shannon to help get Gene back once and for all. While in New Orleans for the annual Voodoo Fest, Gene is lead to believe that the roadies have gone on strike due to a curse the locals have put on him. They will only resume work if he goes through the necessary steps to cure the "curse" himself.

GENE SIMMONS: I CAN'T READ A STICK OF MUSIC BUT I'VE WRITTEN HUNDREDS OF SONGS

RR UK: You mentioned that you were self taught, did you ever have any theory lessons? Did you learn how to read music or any of that stuff?
Gene: No. I can’t read a stick of music, I’ve written hundreds of songs, I’ve had them covered by Lenny Kravitz and Stevie Wonder, and Cher, and almost anybody that you care to mention, but I couldn’t tell you if you wrote it down on a sheet of paper, and neither could Lennon and McCartney or Jagger and Richards, or Jimmy Hendrix- they couldn’t read or write music. But they could write songs.

FIRST EUROPEAN GENE SIMMONS CORT AXE BASS ARRIVED! (via kisskollectoronline)

Gene on The Rocks, the bass player in Dutch KISS tribute band KISS On The Rocks, was the first European customer to receive the brandnew Gene Simmons Cort Axe. Says Gene On The Rocks, whose real name is Robbert van Gorcum: “It's a great looking instrument. Great in details, 100% true to the one Gene Simmons played throughout the last 20 years. It has a great feel, and the sound of it has that true Gene Simmons attack.”

Il primo Gene Simmons Cort Axe bass è arrivato, il bassista della tribute band KISS On The Rocks è il fortunato che lo ha anche già suonato e dice che è al 100% una pefetta replica dell'ascia di Gene Simmons.

KISS will release their Live At Cobo Hall DVD before this summer most likely in June if not even earlier.
The DVD, filmed in September 2009, might be another WalMart exclusive. Stay tuned for further updates.

The Rock & Roll Emporium will be hosting a clinic and meet and greet with legendary guitarist Bruce Kulick on April 25th, 2010 to coincide with the release of his latest CD, “BK3”. Kulick, who first gained notoriety as a member of Meat Loaf's “Bat out of Hell” touring band, may be best known for his twelve years (1984-1996) as lead guitarist of KISS, during which time he appeared on nine gold, two platinum and one multi-platinum KISS albums, including Animalize, Asylum, and Revenge.  It is, however, the wealth of experience he has gained in his 13 post-KISS years that shines through on “BK3”. The album takes listeners for quite a ride over its eleven songs...from the frenetic and anger-fuelled "Fate" (co-written by Kevin Churko, known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne) to the philosophical and uplifting "Life".  Never one to mind sharing the spotlight with other talented musicians, Kulick invited several guest artists to appear on “BK3”, including Gene Simmons of KISS on the anthemic "Ain't Gonna’ Die", the late Doug Fieger (The Knack) on the soon-to-be pop classic "Dirty Girl", Nick Simmons (son of Gene) on "Hand of the King", former Union cohort John Corabi on the moody "No Friend Of Mine", Tobias Sammet (EdGuy, Avantasia) and Eric Singer (KISS) on the fierce "I'm The Animal", and guitar legend Steve Lukather (Toto) on the exciting instrumental "Between The Lines". “Great to hear one of the unsung heroes of KISS stepping out with a bold musical statement of his own,” says Eddie Trunk of VH1’s “That Metal Show”, while Classic Rock magazine calls “BK3” “quite a force” and “a well-crafted effort that shows Kulick living up to his full potential as a solo artist”.   The magazine also named Kulick one of their “top six to watch for in 2010”. TAKING DAWN TO OPEN FOR KISS IN THE UK (from blabbermouth.net)
Taking Dawn will support legendary rockers KISS on their forthcoming U.K. arena tour this May. The Las Vegas  four-piece, which is currently tearing up the boards with Roadrunner  labelmates AIRBOURNE on their tour across Europe, will release its debut album, "Time To Burn", on April 12. The effort is already available digitally via iTunes and all good digital stores.

Recently Gene Simmons twitted that KISS is rehearsing  for the forthcoming Euro tour and that this tour will be a two years tour. While in London beginning of the month, Tommy talked about the possibility that KISS will tour Down Under and Japan (Tokio and Osaka on August 7th and 9th?). Although Tommy reffered to Japan and New Zeland and Australia back in 2008 while on tour in Europe, this time seems more then an option. Currently KISS are confirmed on Cheyenne, Wyoming on 2010 Frontier Days July 23 and July 24 Minot, North Dakota 2010 State Fair. Tour updates here

Recentemente Gene Simmons su Twitter ha rivelato che i KISS stanno provando per l'imminente euro tour e che questo tour li terrà impegnati per circa due anni. Mentre era a Londra all'inizio del mese, Tommy ha parlato della possibilità che i KISS suonino in Australia e Giappone (Tokio e Osaka il 7 agosto e il 9?). Anche se Tommy aveva già parlato di un di imminenti date in Giappone, Nuova Zelanda Australia già nel 2008 mentre era in tour in Europa, questa volta sembra più di un'opzione. I attualmente KISS sono confermati a Cheyenne, nel Wyoming per i 2010 Frontier Days il 23 luglio e il 24 luglio Minot, al North Dakota State Fair 2010.
